What is the "Best" freeware photo editor?
There are a view good ones out there, each with their own strengths and
weaknesses.
Depending on what you search in a photo editor, the one that is the 'best'
might differ.
For me, it is PhotoFiltre (www.photofiltre.com)
but if you just want a list of good photo editors, you also might want to
check out:
IrfanView (www.irfanview.com) (I rather prefer it as an image viewer, not as
an image edtor as such)
XNView (www.xnview.com)
PhotoPlus (www.freeserifsoftware.com)
The Gimp (www.gimp.org) (The most compleete one, but I don't realy like it)
If you are a good googler, you even might find the last freeware versionof
Paintshop Pro (version 4.15)

URL to Photofiltre please.Myself, I use a combo of IrfanView and Photofiltre. I have set up
Photofiltre as my external editor for IrfanView. It's so fast it seems
like it's all one program.

Speaking as a complete novice in such things, what features does
Photofiltre have that aren't available in IrfanView, and that you find
so compelling?
Cheers, Phred.
Photfiltre is a full graphics suite whereas Irfan View is a graphics
viewer with filters and basic editing capability. Myself, I use both.
You can make Photofiltre your external editor for Irfan View like so:

Photofiltre is so fast it feels almost like the combination is a
single program. It's an astonishing amount of graphics editing power
for free.
Jari said:I use Iview for viewing pictures but it surely is not a fill photo
editor as photofiltre is.You can't even create a new picture in Iview.
