I need to give a written report on my bandwidth speed to my ISP. The fastest
I'm getting lately is 12.5 Kbps. That isn't any good for a 45.- per month
DSL charge is it?. They mentioned to try a DSL Modem something, I think
they mentioned turning it off. If I turn it off every night, isn't that the
same as what they mean by power down? Any help is appreciated........Peter

Go here http://bandwidthplace.com/ and run a test on your system.

You're getting ripped off - I'm paying $40 for cable modem - 3.0Mb
down and 256K up.

Getting "ripped off" depends on where you live - unfortunately. It's a
matter of "what the market will bear" and in each area, the market is
different.

For example, where I now live (for the next two days anyway, and for the
last 5+ years) 1024down/128up was $39.99/month + modem rental if you did not
purchase one outright. Soon it will be 4Mbdown/512kbup for the same price..

What package is the OP paying for? That is the true question that should be
asked..
I know they have packages here that are 64/64 and 128/128 - why? Who knows.
heh
