What is a modem bank?

Can anyone tell me what a modem bank is and what it does? is it a hardware?
or is it some kind of a software setup / protocol / what have you? Any
feedbank would be appreciated. Thanks!!

i think a modem back is just a collection of modems
connected to a network to allow a number of people to
connect to their corporate network from a remote
location. it offers multiple acess phone numbers.
