My Uninstall folder has all the proper programs in it but
at the end there are a ton of HotFixes. What are they?
And what is there purpose?

Thanks in advance:

Gary

These are the updates you have automatically downloaded from Microsoft.

.
A hotfix is a file added to an existing program on your
operating system. They are referred to as a "patch" as
well.

Good Luck.

Hotfixes" are the updates you installed from the Windows Update
website. Do not be tempted to remove them or you will uninstall
the actual updates.

If you wish to safely remove the "uninstall files" for the
Hotfixes (i.e. $NtUninstallQxxxxxx$ files shown in Windows Explorer)
and cleanup your Add/Remove Programs list, visit MS-MVP Doug Knox's
excellent website for instructions.

Remove Hotfix Backup files and the Add/Remove Programs Registry entries
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_hotfix_backup.htm

Note: Doug's program only removes the uninstall files and Hotfix entries
in the Add/Remove Programs listing. It does not remove the
actual updates.

You can get a hotfix backup removal tool from
www.dougknox.com Once you have had the patch for a day or
two you should know if it causing any conflicts or issues
with your OS. The backups then become a waste of space and
can be removed. Keep smiling.
