What is a good soft synth to use with my input device in Pro Tools

I got an IKMultimedia suite with Pro Tools (including Sampletank), but
I cannot get it to work properly, and I have found IKMM support
singularly unhelpfu. Can anyone recommend a good soft-synth to use
instead with Pro Tools? Preferably something that is intuitive, and not
excessively difficult for a newbie such as myself.

To be honest they all work pretty much in the same way, Sampletank is no
different other than having to make sure you have a patch loaded (which is
as easy as double cliking on the instrument you want to play with in the
instruments list).

So,
1. create a stereo channel and put sampletank on the insert
2. create a midi channel, you will have to change the output of this channel
to sampletank or any data within the midi wont be sent to sampletank.
3. set the input of the midi channel to the port you have your keyboard
connected to.
4. arm the record on the midi channel and bash a few keys.

I believe you can use Reason as a Rewire device with Protools, and
it's a familiar user interface paradigm with quite a Suite of
Synths/Samplers/Drum Machines. etc...
