What is 32X4 and 64X4 memory?

Can someone explain to me what these two terms really mean? Maybe in
laymen's terms? For example - if 32X4, what does the 32 represent and
what does the 4 represent?

32,768 nibbles, each 4-bits wide = 128K bits
