Will someone please explain what I should enter in the "Contacts" field
located in the bottom left-hand of the record.

Click the button and find out! You'll see that it allows you to choose contacts and thus set up links from the current item to those contacts.

I have Office 2003 at work and use the 'Contacts' field in the bottom left
hand corner to link to associate two or more contacts together (eg, people in
the same company).
But with Outlook 2007, that field has disappeared - how do I link contacts
now?

Thanks
Phil

In Outlook 2007, the Contacts box for linking items to contacts does not appear by default. You will need to turn it on -- Tools | Options | Contact Options | Show Contact Activity Information on All Forms.

Sue,

I turned "Show Contact Activity Information on ALL Forms on, but it did
not put the Contacts Linking field on the Contact Detail. I use this
field all the time to link contacts from the same company, group, or
organization together.

Is there anyway to get it in Outlook 2007?

Thanks in advance,
-Lee

Try again. That's the right procedure. Maybe you just need to make the window taller so that you can see it.
