Hi.

I have an intel mobo (GD965WH) that supports up to an FSB (CPU) of 1066
MHZ.

Can I assume that socket 775 = socket 775 so the motherboard won't be harmed
if I put a CPU (E8500) with FSB 1333 Mhz there?

Will that just run at lower speed or will the mobo be overclocked and live
short?

Thanks

Or will the CPU be undetected and refuse to POST? Or overvolt? Or just work
at the correct multiplier and FSB lower?

The CPU will run at 1066 FSB with the normal multiplier, i.e. it will run slower than normal.
