In WinXP we could set up Network Places and not have to enter the full
URLs every time we wanted to go to that resource. What is it called in
Vista and how do I set one up?

Hollis Paul spewed out this bit, and i'll scatter a few bits myself:
It is there, and it is showing me all the computers and places on my
domain. How does it help me post a page from Word 2007 to my blog at
http://msmvps.com/blogs/obts/default.aspx ?

Open My Computer. Right click on any area on the right hand side where the
drives are listed. You see "Add a Network Location". I believe that's what
you're asking for.

That, indeed, is what I was looking for. I was able to add a network place
to my file server on a box in the domain.

It did not help me connect to the blog server, which requires me to log
in--kept saying it didn't look like a valid address.

Perhaps this has to be set up in IE7.
