What happened to 'Record Macro' function"

A week or so ago I created a simple macro to insert some text in new email
messages. I know a little VBA but not enough to just type the code in the
editor. I know I must have used the recorder (like you can in Excel). I had
to re-install the Outlook Contact Manager recently and now the macro I
created (and added to the menu toolbar) is gone and I can't seem to find any
options to 'record' a macro.

Am I losing it? or did this function exist at one time?
 
Outlook has no macro recorder. Perhaps you had WordMail set as your email editor and were using the macro recorder in Word?
