What happened to my envelope icon in the task bar?

I am using OUTLOOK 2000.
I used to get an envelope icon in on my task bar when I had new mail. Somehow, it vanished, and I have looked all over the place on how to get it back. I really prefer the unobtrusive email notification that puts the envelope in the task bar when I have new mail. How can I get it back?
 
Runing Windows XP?
Make sure it it set to be visible in the Notification Area which you can set
in the Taskbar properties.
