i'm used to seeing what i manually select in ppt, but my 2007 somehow turned
this feature off. how do i turn it back on? help! it's bothering me not be
able to see something i'm so used to (btw, it does work in my other
programs...)

I believe that you're referring to is the "drag and drop" feature. Yes, it is
available on PowerPoint 2007.

To enable "drag and drop":
1. Click on the Office button at the top left side of your screen.
2. At the very bottom of the drop-down menu, you'll see "PowerPoint Options"
- click on that.
3. In the window that appears, select "Advanced" from the options on the
left.
4. In the options displayed, under "Editing options," click the check box
next to "Allow text to be dragged and dropped."

I hope this helps!

Could you be more clear about what you're referring to? Your subject line
talks about dotted selection boxes and clicking and dragging, but your
message body doesn't. So I'm a bit confused.

For example, when I select a table in PPT 2003, it has a border that looks
kind of "dotted." In PPT 2007, though, this is a different kind of border.

Another example: when I select a textbox in PPT 2007, the edge is dotted.
When I select text inside the textbox, the edge is solid. (But you get
selection handles in both cases.)

In 2003, you get dotted lines when using Edit Points. In 2007, it's a solid,
ghosted line instead.

I can't think of other dotted lines. Help.
