I am in the process of saving family'salbum intoone great movie. However, with my trial runs I cannot seem to make it work with a regular vcd or dvdplayer. Pictures I use have been scanned. Into what format should I save them forme to be able to play it on a regular player?

Depends on what you are going to be using to view the final version....

WindowsMovieMaker has no built in DVD software or VCD software. You should
save the final version in WMM as a DV-AVI file for the best resolution and
then use your third party CD/DVD burning software to create either a VCD if
you're going to be viewing the file from a CD drive or a DVD if you're going
to be using a DVD standalone player. Most (but not all) DVD players will
also play a VCD.

Go here:

then click on "DVD Players" at the top of the screen.

Generally speaking, the newer the TV-DVD player the more
likely it is that computer generated DVD/CD's will play
on it -- regardless of the cost of the TV-DVD player.

Also, keep in mind that your outputting choices will be
limited by the capabilities of both your burner and your
burner software. The retail version of ArcSoft's ShowBiz
v2.0 and HP's DVD420i burner work well for me -- this
burner can create "-" CD's and both "+" and "-" DVD's...
though I have not yet tried to create a "-" DVD.
