I just found out that Zone Labs in being "merged" into Check Point
Technologies. Is Zone Alarm Free to disappear?? What affordable firewall,
besides a separate hardware unit, do I look at???

To secure your computer and prevent future security breeches,
consider installing a first-rate internet security program:

Norton Internet Security 2004
http://www.symantec.com/sabu/nis/nis_pe/

-- Includes Norton AntiVirus 2004
-- Includes Norton Personal Firewall
-- Includes prevention of annoying web pop-ups
-- Includes Parental Controls
-- All in one, easy-to-install package

Got this in an Email tonight. I'm on their list.

Dear ZoneAlarm Community,

On December 15th, Zone Labs announced its merger with Check Point Software
Technologies, the worldwide leader in securing the Internet. To celebrate
the event we are offering a special opportunity for our loyal users to
upgrade their firewall security at up to 50% off. We would also like to take
this opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to the free security of basic
ZoneAlarm and to the continued innovation of premium security solutions.

Thanks HillBilly,

I got something to that effect, by way of a popup notice when I booted up a
day or so ago.

Best, JAX

Hello Yves;
?pourquoi ne considères-tu pas un "hardware unit ou "router" car c'est la
fin de tous les absurdes problêmes de configuration?

Why are you not considering an hardware solution at all?
Ends conflicting configuration problems.

Start of November: I got a nice, tiny INEXQ 4 ports for 39.95 minus a 40.00
mail-in coupon.
Total cost = -5 cents (if taxes disregarded).
Got the cheque in already.
Can't beat that!

Mikey

I already have such a device: D-Link DI-704P. I am using Zone Alarm
to"monitor" which apps access the Internet because in the summer, I was
being bombarded with emails stating that I was emailing viruses. It turned
out to be false but I am still monitoring.

Often, these notices that YOU are emailing viruses, just
mean that some infected computer is using (spoofing) your
email.

I know! I am monitoring my system anyway since I do not wish to get "those"
nasty type of emails.
