Hi Jeffrey, for years I have preferred to update manually
rather than use the "auto-update" feature. I habitually
use another AVP program to scan the update files before
the manal update! paranoid?
A bit...
Why? Well, if the AVP program becomes corrupted due
to any number of reasons, with all files named "weekly.zip",
it becomes more messy to update in date order.
There are only three update files now.
Cumul.zip - contains all the latest updates. You should download this
file if you have not updated your antivirus databases in the last two
weeks.
Weekly.zip - contains all updates and modifications released during
the current week and the previous week (a full version of the previous
week's daily.zip and the current daily.zip). You should download this
file if you update your antivirus databases less than once a week, but
more often than once every two weeks.
Daily.zip - contains all updates and modifications released during the
current week. The current week starts from the previous Friday, when
the last weekly update was released. You should download daily.zip if
you update your antivirus databases at least once a week.
Also, all of the files can no more be in the same folder
without renaming......
There's now reason to rename anything... There's a new Cumul.zip
every two weeks, Weekly.zip contains all the .avc files that have been
updated since the last cumulative update.
Sorting used to be a breeze in the
previous system ..... clicking on "Filename" sort would
sort the files in date order! .... if you know what I mean.....
Or, perhaps I am just becoming old and lazy .........
Hmm... In that case you'll be better off using the automatic updater.
Cheers-
