Email ... look for file extension "dbx"

Address Book ... look for file extension "wab" in C:\WINDOWS\Application
Data\Microsoft\Address Book

Freddie,

Assuming that you're referring to Outlook Express mails and address book:

Try OEBackup: http://www.oehelp.com/oebackup/default.aspx

Also, there is a backup utility (from Geniesoft) is also an excellent tool, but not a freeware.

Hi
I have reloaded WinXP+ie6 on another hard disk. I need to find the files
that contain my old address book and email.

Can anyone advise me the files names and paths?

Thanks

Ted

Please refer to the thread "Where are my old mail files?" for the
location of the mail files. As for your address book, the files you need
should be located in the following directory: "C:\Documents and
Settings\[username]\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book". Look there
for the .wab files. There may be a couple of them there, so it'll be
trial-and-error to get the right one. If you get the wrong one, just empty
your address book and import a different one from that same dierctory. Just
be sure to backup the .wab file you tell your Address Book to discard! The
Address Book does _not_ move it's discarded files to the Recycle Bin!

So why post an article regarding Favourites?

There's a problem with people posting messages on this NG which
are either misleading or incomplete. I was just trying to get the
OP to post his messages with a little more thought and accuracy.
Nothing wrong with that.
