I use the term every day and I really don't know what it means.

I've read and re-read the microsoft description of it and it makes
sense, but say I was talking to my Mum. What is the simplest way I
could explain it, because anytime I talk to my users their eyes glaze
over and I can see them mentally creeping into a hole.

Thoughts on this?

A formal definition of all objects and attributes in the directory.

Like a drink book, it provides many different recipes for drinks (object
classes) and each drink is comprised of a set of ingredients (atrtibutes).

How's that for an analogy? :)

/Jimmy
