Never open any attachment! Unless you have first saved it to your hard drive
and scanned it with your AV program.

If you don't know who sent it - delete it!!

You have posted here using your real hotmail address - baldeagle110
at.hotmail.com , spambots will be selling that around the globe! Ditch it!!

Sign up for a new hotmail account and 'munge' it before you post to any
newsgroup, (e-mail address removed) etc apply similar to the new
hotmail address.

What does this mean xxx--->> "I gave all of the usual stuff that came with

Three suggestions:
1. Did you enable attachments? Tools > Options > Security > uncheck
"Do not allow attachments..."
2. If that was already unchecked, what happens when you try to open
an attachment? Is there an error message? Does it only happen with
certain types of attachments such as .doc or .pdf?
3. Read http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3
Some antivirus programs still mess with attachments even when email
scanning is turned off. As a test, completely uninstall your antivirus
program (especially if it is one of the bad ones, McAfee or Norton),
and try opening attachments again.

I got rid of Norton, because it seemed to conflict with vista even though it
was already installed.I have unchecked the attachment square.I can't go back
to xp,because hp tells me it voids my warranty with the OS.Nothing happens
when I try to open an attachment.Just a whiring sound,then silence.Very weird
huh? Some files are pdf,but not sure about the others.I just never had any of
these problems with XP.Thanks in advance,Sir Pony

The inability to open .pdf attachments in Windows Mail is a known bug.
All you can do at this point is to save the attachment, close WinMail,
then double-click the saved attachment, and it should open.

-- I'm interested in your exchange of ideas. Where is this " Do not allow
attachments" option? It's not on my Vista where you said and I'm having the
same problem.

Thanks, Wayne

You have to be in the main window of Windows Mail in order
to go to Tools > Options > Security.

Thanks, Gary.
I was in the wrong tools. Did what you said and unchecked the box. Now I
wait for my next attachment. Wayne
