I have been on the phone with my isp and they cannot figure out why I am
getting the following messages.:

They suggested I call Mircosoft. If you could help that would be greatly
appreciated.

I am working on wireless.

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject 'test',
Account: 'pop3', Server: 'smtphm.sympatico.ca', Protocol: SMTP, Server
Response: '530 5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first', Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 530, Error Number: 0x800CCC78

Tell them to try harder. That message is from the SMTP server, not from
Windows Mail.

The "STARTTLS" part is a clue that the server wanted a secure (SSL)
connection but wasn't getting it from your Windows Mail.

In your account properties, have you enabled the option
"My server requires authentication" ?

I've been experiencing the same problem since 2/25/07 since I migrated from
Comcast to Roadrunner on Vista operating system. No resolve with ISP or
Microsoft thus far. Have you had any luck? If so, can you please let me
know?
Thx
Rae

Do not assume that your problem is just like someone else's.
If you need help, give a detailed breakdown of your issue,
complete with verbatim error messages.
