What does the check box "Move the contents of My Documents to the new location" do?

Friends,

What does the check box "Move the contents of My Documents to the new
location" do?

I'm trying to understand what this feature does or doesn't do. When
selected, is My Documents copied to the redirected path as opposed to moved?
In other words is this a type of Offline Folder setting? Or, am I reading
into this too much and the feature is only applicable the first time the
policy is administered. For example, policy gets applied and all local
files are moved to the redirected location and no files remain local. I'm
concerened about this setting because of our laptop community.
