what does the (2), or (3) mean next to calendar in nav pane

My calendar displays

I have in the my calendar navigation pane a calendar listed with a number in
( ) to the right.

I changed phones which had a calendar already on it and when I synced it
came in with a (3). I have gone through and deleted many items and now it is
showing up with a (1).

Can anyone tell me what this means?

A number in parentheses after a folder name is the number of items in the
folder that are marked unread. Apparently your phone put things in the
calendar that Outlook saw as unread. WHen you deleted two of them, the
number went down. Right-click the folder and choose "Mark All as Read".
