Excel 2007.

I know if it appears in the upper right hand corner that it indicates a
comment in the cell.

But I have received a spreadsheet with red triangles in the upper LEFT
hand corner of some cells. What do they mean?

TIA.

Craig

If you click on one of them, do they indicate some sort of error? I'm guessing
that it's the error indicator (inconsistent formulas, numbers stored as text).
And the user didn't like the default color.

In xl2003 menus, it's under:
Tools|options|Error checking tab

I'd bet it's hidden under the Office Button|Excel Options -- well, somewhere!

Hi Don -

Thanks for the response.

Clicking doesn't seem to do anything that I can see. As for errors, they
seem to display in '07 with an exclamation mark in a triangle, no?

The color is user selectable (at least in xl2003).

Try selecting the cell. Do you see a warning icon near that cell show up? If
yes, then click on that. (You don't click on the warning indicator itself
(sorry).)

Ah, that did it. Thanks, Dave.

It means there's a comment attached to that cell.
Right click in that cell, you'll see Edit Comment, Delete Comment, or Show/hide Comment.
