I'm about to build my third PC in about 15 years. I am building it
primarily for gaming: FS 2004, Falcon 4, X-Plane Lock ON (when it releases),
Ghost Recon, Metal of Honor, etc. Here are the components I plan to use:
ASUS P4C800 Deluxe motherboard with 3GHz P4 and 1 GB of DDR400 RAM
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, 128 MB video RAM
Plexor PX-708A DVD+/-RW
WD 250 GB hard drive
Antec TruePower 400W power supply

I plan to go with the sound system built in the motherboard initially but
will probably wind up with the Sound Blaster Live. I had intended to go
with the 256 MB Radeon 9800 Pro until I started getting strong indications
that I might not want to do that; some computer system integrators are
backing away from that version of the card because of pixilation problems.

I will greatly appreciate any feedback about problems/limitations or support
for any of the above components. Particularly if there are compatibility
problems between any components. Also experiences, good and bad, with the
components and with building a PC. Lots of advice (good only please).

the 875p boards are a waste of money unless your plan to use ECC RAM, that's
the only thing the 875p boards offer you can't find in an 865pe board.

some boards too look at and there are variants of each:

abit is7
albatron px865pe
aopen ax4spe
asus p4p800
msi 865pe

Don't you think you're going to need a lot more disk space than that?

(I'm kidding)
