My friend said that the teacher of him of the university had statement that
the access is thing of the time of school, child's thing.

What do you find of that opinion?

Good evening Frank

Spoken like a true professor. Obviously he has not been acquainted with some
of the finer points of this fine product.

The product does have it's flaws and share of problems, but then what product
doesn't.

The most important aspect of the product is that it allows one to develop /
prototype a solution for a client in a fraction of the time that it would take
the good professor to develop using C++.

Not much.

The teacher is ignorant and biased.

hmmm, maybe what the teacher meant is that all *he* is capable of building
in Access are simple things, "child's play".
i have seen numerous Access databases built by folks with a degree in
computer programming but no training or experience with the Access
software - they've all contained code that was way beyond me, but they also
ran somewhat poorly and looked pretty bad. apparently the folks that built
them felt they didn't need to learn anything about the software they were
using, and assumed that any problems were the result of a deficiency in the
software rather than a deficiency in their knowledge of it.

Frank,
It's sad that one can be biased : or may be the need for
publicity or importance.
I think Access is pretty powerful and extremely useful.

That lot and lot of people have made lots and lots of money supplying rapid
solutions to problems with this toy.

Three years after the local university went with Peoplesoft and a more
"sophisticated" environment, they still called and used my toy application
to do things promised in the real program but not delivered.
One of them was mandated by the federal government and they could not
produce the report.
