I have to take the risk of sounding dumb. Do you click on the PP Viewer icon or the xxxx.pps icon?
You can click on either one. Double-clicking the PPT Viewer icon will
open the PPT Viewer. From there, you can open the PPT/PPS file using the
dialog which opens with the Viewer.
Or you can double-click the PPS file. It will open in show mode in
either the PPT Viewer or in PPT itself, depending on a) if you have PPT
installed, and b) your file associations as specified by Windows.
Also, after burning the CD why does the .pps have the small .pps icon, and when viewed on a computer
that does not have the PP Viewer (it's embedded) it has the Windows icon?
It doesn't really have to do with burning a CD. The icon you get is
determined by Windows. Usually if you see a Windows icon, it means that
the computer does not have PPT or the PPT Viewer installed. If you're
creating an autorun CD and testing it on a computer which doesn't have
either PPT or the PPT Viewer (a good idea to do, actually), then it
doesn't surprise me that the icon shows as a Windows icon there. See, an
autorun CD doesn't require the Viewer to actually be *installed* on the
user's system in order to run.
