What do I need on my PC to test my program on with Oracle?

EMW

Hi,

I'm currently developing a program and I was using SQL server, but I need to
convert it to Oracle.
This itself is not difficult, but how can I then test my program as I don't
have an Oracle database server on my home PC.
The software will be used at the office where they do have Oracle.

For the SQL server Microsoft has a sql server for local use, but is there
also something like this for Oracle?

That doesn't help me.
I've got their Oracle 9i Database for enterprise/personal etc.
But there is so much in there, I don't think I need it all. It's over 2 Gb!!

I hope there is someone out there who can tell me what to install.

rg.
Eric

Hi,

Yes, AFAIK Oracle is free for development. Check their website.

Not sure what you mean here.

To my knowledge there is no such thing as a free development only license.

Can you please point me to where you are getting your information on this.

Would be good if it was true

Hi Aussian,

http://otn.oracle.com/software/index.html
All software downloads are free, and each comes with a development license
that allows you to use full versions of the products only while developing
and prototyping your applications. You can buy Oracle products with full-use
licenses at any time from the online Oracle Store or from your Oracle sales
representative.
