Hi,

i have nothing but problems with my Radeon 9600 and VPU crashes... After
having tried all these things:

1) Disabled fastwrite (bios + software)
2) AGPX4
3) Aparture GFX size down from 256 to 64
4) Installed Latest Omega drivers (incl. correct ati removal).
5) Changed voltage from auto to 1.6
6) Updated cooler with arctic cooler..

I had to go back to catalyst 3.7, which sofar is stable (no VPU enable
feature).

But now my question is - can I simply install the latest Atu Calalyst
drivers and disable VPU recovery ? And what can happen be doing this ?

Thanks,
jorgen

also some have mentioned not running dual memory will do the trick. has
anyone any experience with this ?

First thing I do when I've installed a new driver is ensure fast-writes
are off and then turn off VPU recover. Had problems with older drivers
and this fixed them. Might have been fixed in the latest drivers but I
cant be arsed to test it. Try turning it off. BTW. I always set AGP
to 128MB in the Bios. Never had a problem with dual mem. Always use
it. Had a 9600Pro and now a 9800Pro. Same for both. Shaun
