No - I'm just JoAnn, a woman who had it up to here (visualize a point
several feet above your head) with idiots who insist on doing something the
way they always do it, ignoring progress.

Amen!!!

I knew this a long time ago but must mention that many
of you have a great deal of patience in dealing with
some of the questions that are raised here.
You have to wonder why these people even sit in front of
a computer, much less do web pages.

Everyone starts out as a newbie. I did, and so did you.

They sit in front of a computer either trying to learn just as you sit in
front of yours - bored bored bored - with nothing to do but answer all these
questions month after month after month - sorta of like your social life.

They must not be as fortunate as you, having been blessed with all the
required skills at birth.

You're truly an inspiration - thanks for sharing.

Exactly.

Tom

| Nope, that would be Herman Melville in his new incarnation.

I don't know about you guys. I like his posts. not because I've learned
anything but you have to admit they're abrasive. kind of like that
"whaaaaats up" thing. Maybe I'm not serious enough but it's good for grins.
You have to admit he's dedicated ;-)

I think in this case the correct term is not "troll" but "sock puppet."

I like the contest idea... I thought I'd be first on Moby Dick, but was too
slow!

Yes, he's sort of amusing, but I'm sure he really confuses and frustrates
the newbies. I feel like we need someone running behind him shouting,
"Ignore the man behind the screen!"

LOL
I should have known "someone" in this group
would have the answer.

Ah, a take-off on my favorite movie of all time - The Wizard of Oz.

"Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain."

This Newbie was initially "taken in" and explored some of this troll's
suggestions, but fortunately didn't implement. With usual amount of
scepticism one should use when taking advice from a NG, I decided this
person was less than a reliable source of advice and now discount (i.e.,
don't read) his posts. Also, reinforced for me, the importance of lurking
for awhile.
