Can someone help me understand a bit about this board which I got for half
price.

I understand I can use an Operton chip so does that mean I can use ANY
operton chip. I noticed somewhere it said "a 100 series chip" so what
specifically is that?

I see these chips listed and I know that if I had the money I could use the
Socket 940 FX53 but can I also use any of the others on the page (except the
s939 of course) because although they say operton they don`t say socket 940
and this confuses me. Also I am thinking that the 100 series might mean I
can only use the one with the number 146 after it.

Heres the link I am looking at

http://www.microlandtechnology.com/...rocessors+(CPUs)&subcategory=AMD+Opteron+&+FX

Thanks for any help on this.

For some reason, that listing omits the Opteron 8xx. ;-)

You would have to be nuts to buy an Opty 8xx for a single
processor motherboard, but theoretically it should work.
