I am trying to set up a workgroup file shareing machine.

When I click in my computers for properties nothing happens.
I need to be able to set the workgroup and computer name so a workgroup can
share files from this machine.

Can someone please tell me which componets I need to add to my build that
will allow me to set computer name and workgroup?

Thank you,
-Dan

Dan,

XPe SP2 Rel.Notes: "Windows XP Embedded does not allow you to right-click My Computer in the Start menu, and then choose Manage.
Instead, you can open Computer Management by adding the Administration Support Tools component to a configuration, and then running
Compmgmt.msc. "

Actually, a work around (regitry settings) was posted a long time ago to the NG:
http://groups-beta.google.com/group...mpmgmt.msc&qt_g=1&searchnow=Search+this+group

For the component, start with "Administration Support Tools".

Thank you for taking the time to answer that question! I will give this a try
today. This is all I am lacking is the ability to confgure the ip stack.

This group has been my only source of information as I have no other
documentation (yet, its ordered). I think it is great that MS has allowed
XPe to be tried before having to buy it. This has given me a chance to test
xp embedded in my real world hardware before I spend a grand on it.

I added Administration Support Tools. Now what/how do I access it to change
computer name and ip address settings?

Dan,

I don't know anything about that utility (I prefer writing my own for easier distribution within an XPe image) but you do want to
try first "Windows way". Just go to Control Panel/System applet and change the computer name there on the Computer Name tab.

I am sorry, I forgot to mention you also have to have "Computer Name User Interface" in your image.
