Hi again,
FP 2000 and site hosted on WIN2k

I get this error all of a sudden.

I know this error displays when the permissions of the folder holding the
DB's permissions are set correctly. But, I have just spoken with the host
and he has reset the permissions to what it should be.
I get this error on all of my Active Server Pages, even though they don't
pull anything from a db.

I have "Compact & Repair" all the data bases, I have deleted the global.asp
file and put in a new one and I have also linked the ODBC to the db again.

Please advice - my site is down at the moment.

Your error message doesn't show, so I am responding from memory of your
original post, which by the way, you should not snip.

The host also need to be sure the permission are set correctly for the
database itself, as well as the folder it is stored in.

Also have the host check the application root configuration. If one exist,
they should delete it, and then recreate it, then run a check on the
extensions and left FP tighten security. Note: If your site have any special
permissions assigned, this will remove them, however it will set all
permissions to the defaults required by FP and should solve your current
problems.

Has you contacted your host to check the Application Root settings?

Hi Thomas,
thanx for your reply and sorry for the missing error:

Here it is:
____

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'

[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Operation must use an updateable
query.

//global.asa, line 128

-----
What I have done was to delete the DB, opened it up LIVE in FP and imported
it again, linked the DNS (or is it DSN, I always get mixed up here).

This error I get from every ASP requested, whether it has something to do
with the DB or not.

Regards,
Deon

Also right click the top most folder for your web (name of site) and check
the properties, should have Allow scripts to run etc. enabled.
