All the different cables required to connect all of the components to
the PSU and motherboard, etc. Perhaps I might not need to buy any
additional cables at all - maybe I will get all the cables I need when
I buy all of the components.

You should get all the cables you need with the mobo and PSU.
Unless you are planning some mad overclocking I would lose the fancy CPU
cooling stuff in favour of an Arctic Cooler Freezer 7 cooler. It's cheaper,
dead quiet (if you use the Asus fan control thingy built into the BIOS) and
will support some modest overclocking (I've got a 6750 clocked to 3.2Gig no
problem - in a P180 case BTW).

get a Thermaltake Cable Management PSU, you then only use the cables
required and those that are used are nicely rounded and
sleeved..............makes for a very neat system.

I have the P182 case, a fantastic case as far as I'm concerned.
Very quiet and good cooling.

Two cables I recommend for this case are an eight pin CPU
power extension cable; a four pin will do if eight not available,
and a 24 pin MB power extension cable. This should a flat one
about four inches long. I got both in a kit.

The reason for these extensions is that this case is designed
so all major cables can run behind the MB plate making the
interior clean visually, and for airflow. The reach for the CPU
connector may be a bit tight, and the extension allows for
more relaxed routing.. The reason for the flat MB extension
is that there is a tight turn from the edge of the back plate
to the Asus MB power connector and I didn't like the stress
on the connectors, and the extension allows a very neat
appearance+.

I also recommend mounting the hard drives vertically in the
bottom bay. This keeps everything cooler as the drives
are in direct airflow, and airflow to the video and CPU is
unimpeded. I also recommend an additional 120mm fan
in the middle drive bay. The drives mount on rubber shock
mounts, and I don't like that idea so here's what I did. I
took two 5 1/4" bay knockouts and placed them sideways on
the bottom of the lower drive bay with holes drilled to
accomodate the drive mounting screws. This allowed the
drives to be solidly mounted. Three reasons for this are:
case to case grounding, some conduction cooling, and
vibration damping. Leave the empty drive shelves in the
middle bay. I found that this separates and guides the
airflows to the video card, MB, and CPU.

A 19" LCD monitor for your system? Save $$ and get at least a 22" WS LCD.
