What are Unread Items in Contacts?

We are using Office 2003 and have a question regarding Contacts. When we
look at a phone list view in Contacts there is a line at the botton that
states the Category we are in and then i.e. 540 items 109 unread. What are
the unread itmes? Thanks

You you have multiple people accessing the Contacts folder you're examining?
If so, the unread items will be items people other than you have added and
so haven't seen.
