What are those files?

In the fold "windows" of my winXP pro, there are many
subfolds named "$NTUninstallxxxxxxxx$", they usually
contain a sub-subfold "spuninst" and files.

What are those folds/files? Where do they come from? How
should we do for them?
..

Yumin,

Those $NtUninstall folders are created when you install a Microsoft Service Pack, a hot fix, or certain security updates. You may leave them there unless you need hard drive space. Visit, www.dougknox.com and check the utils section. MVP Doug Knox has an utility which can remove the Hotfix backup files without removing the hotfix.

FYI: Running the "spuninst" will uninstall the update.

Hi

They are the uninstall files for the Windows Updates - some of which can be
seen in Add/Remove programs. May I suggest that you leave them where they
are unless you are running seriously low on disk space. If deleted, those
listed in Add/Remove programs, won't be removable.
