Earlier today I wanted to insall the update KB828750 (an IE6 security
patch).
At installation time it said it couldn't be installed as it did not have a
Microsoft Certificate.(A patch on Microsoft's website ???).
It all of a sudden seemed like it was doing something after all, as for a
second my system tray went haywaire and the icons in it jumped all over the
place.
Also, all of a sudden I lost my connection on MSN Messenger, could not get
through to any websites anymore, I had to turn of the firewall in my Dial-up
networking.
I assume it is not very wise to turn off a firewall, but what could I do in
order to be able to surf the net ?
Did I do the right thing ?
Has anyone had similar experiences or does anyone know a bit more about this
?
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks (and thanks a bunch Microsoft).
Frankie.

Where did you get this "update"? Only get updates from the Windows Update
site. Go to Start>All Programs>Windows Update. Enable your firewall
immediately. Run a virus scan as soon as possible. Use anti-spyware,
anti-adware software. You should not have to disable your firewall to
connect to the internet.

That's exactly where I got it from, the Microsoft update site.
All those bogus emails end up in the bin as soon as they arrive.
