What are these files?

Still exploring XP and trying to understand what's what...I
have TONS of files on my c-drive all of a sudden, all with
extension .idx - they're called caoa.idx, caob.idx, and so
on. Each is sized 1 KB, but there are literally hundreds of
them. I suspect they may have something to do with cd
recording as they're all sitting in a file i've set up to
store music tracks. Does anyone know what these are and
whether i can safely delete them? Thanks all!

Swiss,
They're AOL temp files. Browsers collect hundreds of such files when you're
surfing.
I don't know about AOL, but every browser has a means to clear its temp
files somewhere in its tools or options.
Hope this helps,

Check, thanks for replying, but...I never use AOL, matter
of fact that was the first thing I deleted when I got my
new computer. Also, why would they all end up in a file
that I created where I just store stuff related to music?

Anyway, I've deleted them...(crossing my fingers things
will still work tomorrow! *g*)

Go here http://filext.com/detaillist.php?extdetail=idx type *idx* hit search, something might be there.
