Hi, hopefully someone here knows the answer to the
Question: What are the Maximum Processes for XP?

In other words:
How many process ( Handle and treads graphics ) can
be run on a Win XP Pro box with a P4 (1.6 GHz) CPU?

Thanks,
Jimmy.

As many as are necessary (mine usually has 44).
However, you need to realize that, an any given point of time, the number of
processes that are in control of the machine is determined the number of
processors that the machine has.
Windows XP uses time slicing to move from one active process to another.

My wifes PC picked up a load of malware once. At one point she had about 60
suspect processes running plus about 40 valid ones. It was quite slow but it
worked. Her CPU is an old 1900 Socket A Athlon I think.

Tom, since you're using Outlook Express, you might
have read messages hidden and not see the thread.

Cheers,
Jimmy.

44 sounds like a lot to me. the PC I use with no programs running, as in
just logged in, has 21. that includes NAV, MS AS, and ZoneAlarm.
