What are idx extensions ?

When I opened My Music folder, there are a couple of
hundred files listed along with my regualr music files, I
do not know where they came from? They are listed for
example as: CTE8.IDX, SA69.IDX,CHE8.IDX etc. As I said,
there are a few hundred that just showed up. Help!
