What APA edition does the citation tool use?

I would like to use the Citation and reference tool in the Word 2007 for
properly citing references. However, I must use APA 5th edition and I can not
seem to find which edition Microsoft used. Does anyone know?
 
The edition that was in force when Word 2007 was launched. The tool has not
been updated to reflect the new guidelines.

Note that Word does not follow the APA guidelines when there are multiple
works by the same author(s) in the same year.

And it inserts a space before the comma separating one item from the
next (I don't recall which specific items this affects). Not helpful.
