My copy of Vista Home Premium tells me that the file is not found, every time
I click on Windows Defemder> What gives?

Do you have the folder C:\Program Files\Windows Defender? If so, among that
folder's files, do you have MSASCui.exe?

Frankly I think you're better off without it myself, but are you sure it's
not just the shortcut you're clicking on that is at fault? Does the security
centre pop up and berate you because it isn't running? Does it include any
unusual comments if you open the security centre manually?

Hey all;
New to this, so bare with me. Regarding "Windows Defender". This is a
great program in the XP operating system, but as long as you keep your
updates up to date, your virus program up to date, that should be just about
enough, and almost forgot keep your Windows firewall up and running.
Now the only other thing I use is "Microsoft Baseline Security Advisor".
I tested this when it was still in development as a beta. I really liked the
way this program ran, in Xp, and now in Vista. You run this while online,
and before the actual scan,it makes sure that you have all your security
updates. If they aren't, then downloads, or lets you know hw to download
them. After that the security scan will run, giving you a report of the
scan. This will show any deficiencies in your security and help you resolve
same.
So in conclusion, all I use is my Norton, windows firewall, and Microsoft
baseline security advisor. I keep getting the repots that say my security
level is the strongest and not having any threats coming through. Hope this
was help...Jim
