Western Digital WD400 EIDE hard drive

Hello I just put in a Western Digital WD400 EIDE hard drive,model number of WD400AB-00BPA1. It showes up in the device manager as working properly but does not show up in explore. it is set as a slave. How can i format this hard drive an
is there something that i may have missed

There should be some directions that came with the drive. I just bought the
80gb version. Run the utility that comes with it, because I believe the
drive will still need to be formatted and partitioned.

Hello
you need to use a bootdisk and type fdisk at the A:\ and
then you will see 5 options just pick option 5 and then
you will see both drives pick #2 then you can partition
it and exit, then you should be able to see it in My
Computer then you can format it by right clicking on it,
be sure to format it in the same format as C:

You do not need a boot disk, that is the hard way.
Simply use Disk Management.
