I have two HD's - both Western Digital Caviar's- one is a WD40 and the other
is a WD20 - both EIDE - both have Win2K loaded on them - the MB is a ASUS
A7V133 - what I want to do is to get them both on my machine and transfer
all of the data from one to the other - currently the WD20 is on my
machine - I just cannot for some stupid reason (operator error) get them to
play nice with each other - I'm pretty much a novice and hardware isn't
exactly my thing so would somebody out there be willing to tell me how it
should go ?

You must make one a Master and one a Slave if on same ribbon cable.
The alternative is Cable Select but I have found WD drives are finicky
about their jumper selections. Another way would be to put the other
drive on the secondary IDE port as either a Slave or Master.

Why not give Western Digital's own free tools a try?

Make sure your OS drive (C: ??) is set up as Master (with slave ?.).
Set up the 2nd drive as Slave. That should fix it.
