I have a WD 1200B008-RNN External 120 GB Series II USB drive.

The drive has crashed inside the external case..

How do I replace the drive by opening case? I see an opening on the case
that a screwdriver can penetrate, with a picture of a lock next to the
opening. Does that have something to do with popping open the case?

Thanks,

Gary

After some research, I discovered that the lock is for a Kensington lock
which is meaningless to opening the case.

I found that removing two screws under two pads allowed the cover to come
off exposing the drive inside.

The drive has some silver tape which I removed but the it seems to be
retained by some other method. I am wondering if the circuit board must be
removed to get the drive out.

Any ideas?
