WERE GOING DOWN!!!! 56k warning

Hot air balloon came down across my lane on Golf Course land on tuesday night... must have been a mistake as i doubt they are allowed to land on it. Alot of very angry golfers i should imagine!!

Was literally 5 seconds from my house - over the lane and through the trees and there it was!!

Added some excitement to the evening :)

That must have been a rather unexpected surprise! Do you know why they landed, was something wrong?

It was about 8:30/9ish i think so yeah, late evening :)

Dont think anything was wrong - they were using the burners to lift the thing off the ground a couple of inches so they could move it out the way by pushing it - which is what is happening in photo 4 - quite a good action shot if i may say so myself!!

Maybe they just got carried there by the wind... and they didnt want to go any further so dumped it there!!

Yeah was quite unexpected!!
 
Why i was asking was because as an ex Balloonist hot air Balloons aren't licensed to fly at night and as the sun was going down, the balloon crew were looking for a place to land, they probably didn't even notice it was a golf course until it was too late, as they would of headed for open greenery with no trees or obstacles which could become dangerous in the event of them landing...


Your right they have no call on direction and just go where the wind takes them, the window of opportunity for landing in open spaces does not come that often, so when it does you have too take it...even if that means incurring the wrath of golfers....:p

I remember at one of the ballon races a ballon slowed down over my neaighbours garden, the ballonists were asking for a burger and a couple of beers :lol:

Which Golf course was that chris?
 
Those are great pictures Chris - a pretty unusual sight too. The most exciting "flying object" to hover over the golf course near us, is a police helicopter! Lol
 
I love photo number two, that girl is maybe saying 'Nigel, WTF is that thing doing there?' :lol:
