We are developing a new POS product line based on WEPOS and realized that the
EAR's ECCN classification cannot be the same one as for WinXP Embedded
(5D002) nor WinXP Pro (5D992.b.1). Microsoft had not yet posted the formal
classification on their website
(http://www.microsoft.com/exporting/matrix_w.htm) as of Feb 7, 2006, so I am
looking for any info on any of the following:
a) the status of application processing and issuance of the ECCN, or
b) guidance on how to interpret the EAR regs (esp parts 740.17, 740.2.m/n
and 742.15) to self-classify WEPOS and adhere to the reporting requirements,
or
c) anyone else, besides BIS, who may have already determined the product
characteristics to classify WEPOS ECCN.
