My Orinoco card does not supply a card configuration
utility for XP, instead it relies on the Windows wireless
configuration utilities. The Windows WEP configuration
screen does not provide any options for the key format
(e.g. ASCII, 64-bit hex...) it only has boxes for:
Network Key:
Confirm Network Key:
Key Index:

I need to enter a Hex key, but the screen does not
provide that option. How do I specify a hex key?

You can get an updated Orinoco management app which shows
up in your Control Panel.

This is more flexible than what you are seeing.

The "KEY" is defined on the AP.
In ASCII, you have the choice of 5 characters.
(you only really enter 40bit and the remaining 24bits are
for WEP overhead)
In Hex, your choices are 0123456789ABCDEF, and I believe
you use 10 characters (pardon my poor conversion thinking
at 2am)
The key index is either unused, or it is 0 or 1 depending
on how the AP defines the count; 0123 or 1234

Try:

orinoco_client_74_windows.html
for the Orinoco package including the Client Manager
