I purchased an HP Ze5385us Laptop back in March. When I
got it home it took me about 5 minutes to get the wireless
adapter talking to my Cisco Access Point and it worked
fine until this week. I entered the WEP key type and
length and then the WEP key and it worked fine.
Due to a virus / worm (damage) my wife reloaded the
software via the Recovery CD's that can with laptop. Now
I cannot get the wireless connection working.

When I go to the Wireless Network Properties screen there
is no place to specify the WEP key length and format.
Before re-loading the sw there was a place to enter this
info on the screen. I have loaded all available updates
for XP Home Edition that I am running. I still do not
have the fields on the screen that were there before I re-
loaded the SW. Are there any other sw or drivers that I
need? Lap top Is HP Pavillion Ze5385us. I saw a LAN-
Express driver update on website (HP) but it did not help
(SP23038). It seems that I am missing some utilitly sw or
something that will allow me to specify the type and
length of the WEP key as indicated in XP information from
Microsoft. Getting very frustrated. Can you help me?

Try turning on Windows XP Zero Wireless Configuration on the Wireless
Settings tab of your Wireless Network connection (the topmost option
that allows Windows to control your network).

After you do this, Windows should popup a window in the notification
area asking you to input a WEP key (or you may get a message that
there are one or more networks available - in this case, click on the
popup box and then connect)
