Can anyone explain how to safely get rid of 'WELCOME' at XP Start up which,
for me, is displayed for some 30 to 60 seconds. By now I am well aware I'm
Welcome and would like to move on.

Download Tweak UI (for XP) and install the program. You
will find you are able to select to use "welcome" screen
or not, plus you can also choose to display your name or
not:) TweakUI is made by MS to help organise a host of
these settings. Can be run from the control panel if you
wish.

Hi there ken,

Disable the Welcome screen. To do this, follow these steps:

1. In Control Panel, click User Accounts.
2. Click "Change the way users log on or off".
3. Click to clear the "Use the welcome screen for fast and easy logon" check
box.
4. Click OK.

NOTE: The "Fast User Switching" option is disabled if the Welcome screen is
disabled.

Hi Ken,

Configure Windows XP to Automatically Logon:

If you are referring to the "Getting Started" screen, see:

Hide the Welcome Screen at Registry Guide for Windows:
