Hello,

Whenever I switch my computer on, I get the welcome screen asking me for my
password.

Leaving it blank and pressing enter clears this screen, but is there a way I
can bypass it, and go straight to my desktop on startup?

Thx,

Elton

Hi Elton

If you want to logon onto to Windows without having to enter a password, try
the following:

From Start>Run type in

control userpasswords2

then uncheck 'Users must enter a user name and password to use this
computer' and click 'Apply'. On the next screen - 'Automatically Log On' -
delete the name 'Administrator' from the User name box and enter your
account name and then the password in the next two boxes. OK your way out
and then reboot your system.

Tried this,

I get an error on start up - The system could not log you on. Make sure
your user name and domain are correct, then type your password again....

Is this because I never used to have a password for my User Name, but put
one in when I followed the steps below?

Hi Elton,

You mention Domain and Welcome Screen. Those two don't go together at all.
:o(

However, what happened here in your case is that you added a password to the
Administrator account. Go back to control userpasswords2 and select your
user name, then follow the rest.

Tip:

Add Control UserPasswords2 to the Control Panel (Line 1)
