Hi, recently I have been having major problems with my PC. I can only work
on it for around 10 - 20 min before it freezes. Within the past month I
have noticed that the "humming" of my computer has been increasingly louder
and louder. Just as the computer is about to freeze it sounds as if the fan
is shorting out and then it freezes, then back to normal and the computer is
locked. If I am listening to music or somthing the music will still play.
Is this a harddrive problem or a power supply problem, or fan? I am totally
lost and dont feel like paying 50 dollars for someone just to look at it.
Thanks I appreciate any help I can get.

I think you ought to take the case cover off and have a look inside
while it's making noise.

My video card fan was defective. On the startup, there was some sound. The
sound stop latter. But 10 minutes to 60 minutes latter the computer either
freeze or restart by itself.
Since I replace the video card, it act correctly.

Try to find out if it's not from your video fan, while it does this sound,
just touch the fan to see if it's not just stuck.

Hope this help.
